WHAT WE BELIEVE
-
We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God to all people. It is accurate, authoritative and relevant to our everyday lives. The Bible is a library of writings, both divine and human, that tell a unified story, leading us to Jesus.
-
We believe in one God, who created the heavens and earth and everything in them. He is all powerful, all knowing, ever present and unchanging. He is good, compassionate, faithful and holy. God is love. We believe that He exists in three distinct persons, equal in power, authority and glory: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
-
We believe that Jesus, both completely human and completely God, is the only one who can reconcile us to God. He lived a perfect life, died on the cross in our place, and defeated death in His resurrection so that we can have life to the full and life eternally. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.
-
We believe that ALL people were uniquely created in the image of God to have fellowship with him and to glorify him but became separated in that relationship through sin. As a result, people cannot regain a right relationship with God through their own efforts.
-
We believe that the only way to receive forgiveness and salvation is through the blood of Jesus, shed on the cross. God, in his grace, freely offers salvation to those who repent of their sin, place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin, and submit to His will for their life. Salvation cannot be earned—it is a gift from God.
-
We believe that the Holy Spirit is present and active, and abides in every believer in Jesus. The Holy Spirit guides us into truth, convicts us of sin, comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, testifies about God, enables us to share the gospel and makes us more like Jesus. The Holy Spirit empowers us to build God’s Kingdom.
-
We believe in the Church, the body of Christ, a community of believers unified through their faith in Jesus. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving him, obeying him, loving each other and by this, making him known to the world.
-
We believe that Jesus is coming back again, as He promised, to establish His Kingdom and restore creation. We believe that our response to Jesus will determine if we exist either eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. Eternal separation from God is hell, and eternal union with Him is heaven.
Fireside Church aligns with the doctrine of the Nicene Creed, and was founded under two denominations, the Conservative Congregational Christian Conference (CCCC) and the American Baptist Churches of Vermont and New Hampshire.
